Captivating Fantasy
“Any story worth its weight in gold should hold the reader prisoner in its world and out of yours. This story is crafted in such a way to do that. I felt invested in the characters. BUT also it brought me back to being young and wanting to be enveloped in such an adventure … entwined in fantasy and magic. Thank you for this tale and I’m looking forward to falling into the pages again of the world created in the minds eye of Carolyn Enting. I’ll also read them all before they become movies!” Colin Mathura-Jeffree
Riveting Mythological Adventure
“The Medallion of Auratus is a fantastic story. With very contemporary characters, Enting takes us on a riveting journey that’s a mixture of Jules Verne and a Greek hero myth. It’s an intelligent read loaded with classical references that come to life for young readers. It’s also full of humor, danger, mystery and action. Enting tells a compelling story with very believable characters on a quest to save the world and get vital help for a sick mom. As she takes you deeper into the world of sea slugs, talking octopuses and human/fish hybrids Enting leaves you hanging on the edge at the end of each chapter. If your kids are anything like mine, they’ll be pleading to keep reading and stay up late to hear what happens next in this confusing world of maritime mystery. Definitely on our favourite list by the Enid Blyton and the Roald Dahl. Watch this space for more adventures from Enting and her characters in the years ahead.” P Rose
An Aquatic Adventure
“The Medallion of Auratus has that wonderful sense of adventure that I so loved in the classic fantasy adventure stories I read growing up. The books heroes are children in a faraway and strange land but one that is grounded in just enough reality to make it utterly engaging and believable. Our heroes Sam and Jackson are incredibly likeable boys that any adult or child can relate to. Although this book is suited to an older audience I read some of it to my 5 and a half year old and she loved hearing about the different creatures and the world they lived in. She was particularly interested in what they are, seaweed burgers! Yuck! This is a book that adults and children can enjoy, together or alone. I look forward to the next adventure.” Kate Jorgensen

9-year-old reviewer
“My name is Lily, I’m 9 and I loved this book! It was very exciting and surprising! I kept wanting to read the next chapter and the next … it kept me up late. I liked the main characters but my favourites were the weird creatures from under the sea. I wish this was a movie! I can imagine it already!”
The Medallion of Auratus review
“I really enjoyed this book. I loved the descriptiveness and the vibrancy of the characters. It was very imaginative and beautifully written. I couldn’t just see myself in this ocean world, I could smell it and hear it too. My one complaint is it dragged on a bit in the middle, though the start and the end all but made up for it. I would recommend this book to seven to fifteen year olds, or just anyone who enjoys a beautiful fantasy and a cracking adventure.” Zoe Levack, 12.
Gloriously fantastical
“A fantastic adventure for young boys Sam and Jackson … meeting such magical creatures and characters along the way – the author captivates you in a fun journey of imagination & discovery. Beautifully written and gloriously descriptive. The story-telling is spellbinding; it reminded me of being a child again and reading CS Lewis.” Meg Matthews

For all ages
From the moment you are introduced to the character of ‘Sam’, you immediately feel he endears himself to you, as does his likeable friend ‘Jackson’. The writer uses beautiful descriptions which pull you in, enabling you to visualise the setting and feel the atmosphere of the fast paced adventure which the two young boys find themselves on. I loved The Medallion of Auratus and would recommend this book to all ages.” Nicola, 39
Young reader review
“I loved the book because it led you into another dimension. Also I loved the part when they go to the Mussel Inn because they meet all of the mysterious creatures. I like the way the author grabs your attention with lots of descriptive words. I liked it when Sam (the main character ) discovers the golden medallion of the Sun Kingdom.” Jessica,10

The book is extremely well written. The author demonstrates a great imagination and transports the reader into another world. It reminds me of the Harry Potter series - just as riveting and intense but less terrifying. This is certainly a book I will want to share with my grandchildren. Anxiously waiting for the next book in the series…..Kristen Weschler
